I’m not exactly sure why I’m sitting in the booth by my self in the back of a bar on Wednesday night. There are several people around and i"m sure I could insert myself into any number of conversations. But here I sit tapping away on my little laptop. The smoke is light tonight, the music is ok. One of Kevin’s tricks is roaming about drunk off his ass but no Kevin. I think he’s over at the Eagle. The military boy in the plaid shorts and with his box of cigarettes dangling at the end of his arm is hitting on the door guy. The door guy a skinny kid, well he looks like a kid from a distance, but close up his face is much older and well warn. The story on the Military guy is he like the girlie boys. Well that much seems true from from this distance.
Ralph and DJ are behind the bar, a few regulars scattered about and one couple playing pool in the corner. There is one girl in the bar tonight, she appears to be an Asian chick with big boobs blue eye makeup any a yellow tank top. The token pretty boy and his bald yet stylish side kick. The military guy light a cigarette, inhales and then exhales in a smooth twisting action fitting of dancer. Ralph looks a little bored at the bar. If I had to guess he’s doing his best to looking interested in what the older guy in yellow is saying.
It’s now 11:03 and you can see the last callers starting to stake out the potential claims for the night. I’m not sure what it is about week nights at bars, people look alive but just not good. I’m sitting here in a white t-shirt, jeans, hair uncombed and nursing a beer. I think I would rather be home.
I hope you didn’t expect this to go anywhere. I’m simply reporting on what I see. This gives me something to do rather than interact with my fellow, rather be here than at homers. Someone said it was country line-dancing night at the eagle. Thank god I’m here and not over there. I think it’s time for another beer. I bet work is going to suck tomorrow.
Additional note: From all the stories DJ told about the red head from out of town. The stories are much better than reality ever could be. Sad but true.
