Well it’s been an interesting day.  McCain has single handled fucked up the bailout plan, for pure political reasons.  WaMu has failed while congress has their thumbs up their asses.  And there is little to no gas to be found in Charlotte.

We walked up to East Blvd Bar and Grill to grab some dinner.  There is little to no traffic on the roads.  Everything looks empty.  The bar had only 3 or 4 people all of which were neighborhood locals.  A regular had on roller blades, backpack, and helmet.  He had given up on going home tonight. He was making a beer and pizza run on his roller blades and was crashing with a friend so he could make it to work on Friday.

So in the spirit of taking all this shitty week in stride here is my attempt at a top 10 list

Top 10 things to do in Charlotte during a gas shortage

10.  Spend your gas money on weed

9.  Walk to the grocery store to stock up on milk and bread

8.  Call into sick for work to avoid driving

7.  Roller blade around Dilworth with a 12 pack of beer and a pizza in your back pack looking for a place to crash

6.  Print out bus schedules

5.  Ride around on a tandem bike with a girl made from of pink pool noodles, fishing line, and other assorted items purchased from the dollar store.  (true story it was very cool)

4. Watch your 401K go to hell

3.  Update your resume

2.  Discover internet porn has lost its appeal

1.  Hope and pray that the rest of the word realizes that Sara Palin is completely unqualified.

I was completely lazy this weekend.  I think I might have checked my email once or twice.  I think I might have ventured outside a half dozen times between Saturday and Monday.  I didn’t even make it over to Festival in the Park.  People were parking everywhere Saturday.  Kings drive was down to two lanes.  Our driveway was partly blocked most of the day Saturday.  How frustrating!  This type of event always drives the dog crazy; I think he barked more than I read.

I ended up watching a couple moves which is always fun.  “The Delicate are of the Rifle” was the one I think I liked the most.  I had been debating reducing the size of my cable package.  To do so would mean saying good bye to Sundance, IFC, and The Movie Channel or Starz or whatever the crappy channel you have to purchase to get Sundance and IFC.  That’s the part that sucks, I like HBO (True Blood), and I like Showtime (Weeds, and Secret Diary of a Call Girl) but I’m not sure I have ever watched the Movie Channel.  I had almost convinced myself that I could do without IFC and Sundance until yesterday.  Then “The Delicate art of the Rifle” came on, and I of course got sucked in.  So any decision about TV is on hold.
